About the Artist

Melanie enjoys living in Nebraska - despite the winters!  She shares her space with 2 dogs and 3 cats and comes from a family of artists.
Her love of art began when she was little,  watching her mother paint roses on dresser drawers.  Her Grandfather taught her to find at least one beautiful thing every day.  Since then, Melanie has spent years creating and sharing her artist talents.  She's trained with some of the most experienced art teachers, including artists from Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha, NE.
A Contemporary Realist her works instill a feeling of calm and peace. Her favorite Artists are Georgia O’Keefe, Edouard Monet, Vincent Van Gogh and Norman Rockwell. 
ACHIEVEMENTS:

• In 1986 - 1987 she was a finalist in the Nebraska duck stamp contest. 
• In 1997 - 1998 she had the opportunity to display her work with the Associated Artists of Omaha.  
• Animation art for websites
• Designing logos and graphics
• Artworks displayed in DeSoto Bend and Missouri Valley Iowa
• Her art has been displayed at numerous art shows in Omaha, NE.
• Through the years she has also donated paintings to various charities. 

Some of the best advice she ever received was from her portrait teacher who told her when starting a piece to decide whether it will look like a photograph or a painting. She believes that art should be accessible and affordable to everyone.  She hopes her work will make people smile.
